ARTIST'S STATEMENT: Animal imagery and animal-based materials have been used in jewelry dating back to some of the first civilizations. With such a huge history of animal jewelry, I was challenged to create a piece of jewelry that contained the essence of an animal rather than merely the representation of an animal. By mimicking the structure of animal-based material I hope to evoke the same feeling that the animal itself induces.
