ARTIST'S STATEMENT: My work combines two different sources: graffiti and antique jewelry. I find graffiti's marks and sense of accumulated history fascinating. My exploration of spray paint and sgraffito on metal is a result of this interest. For this series I also turn to jewelry of the Renaissance and Victorian Era, among others. I show reverence for the past in new works that reference tradition. The blending of the refined look of antique jewelry and urban feel of graffiti reveals a merged history and its significance to me.
