THE SOCIETY FOR MIDWEST METALSMITHS
was founded in 1995 as a not-for-profit organization dedicated to educating, inspiring and promoting excellence in metalsmithing and jewelry.
For over a decade
the Society for Midwest Metalsmiths has continued its mission to exhibit and educate on the fine art of metalsmithing. The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths is looking for exhibition sponsors and award sponsors in the metals and jewelry industry to support our World Wide METAL Inclinations Exhibition and continue our mission.
SMM has proudly produced metal exhibitions entitled: “Hey, These Things Just Snap Right Off” in 2006, with Andy Cooperman as the juror; “Stone/s” in 2004 with C. James Meyers as juror; “METAL Departures” in 2001, with Pat Flynn as juror, "Talismans for the Coming Millennium" in 1999 with Elinore Moty as juror and "At the Table in 1997. These exhibitions have all been well received and helped to educate a new generation of metalsmiths. With the "METAL Inclinations" Online Exhibition SMM intends to reach more metalsmiths and jewelers on a international level.
METAL Inclinations Schedule:
• June 30, 2008- Digital Submission application deadline
• September 1, 2008- Jury results e-mailed and posted.
• October 31, 2008- Metal Inclination Exhibition Debuts on the Internet
• October 31, 2009- The exhibition will remain online for one year.

METAL Inclinations

“METAL Inclinations” is an international online exhibition presented by The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths. The web site will be available to be viewed by metalsmiths, jewelers and jewelry lovers anywhere in the world with an Internet connection. Entries will come from all over the world.
World Debut Online: October 31, 2008-October 2009
The idea of a totally online exhibition is trend setting. Young metalsmiths and jewelers are very tech and digitally savvy. An online exhibition is the best way to get their attention, get their entries and spread new ideas in metalwork throughout the world. This online exhibition will be used as a teaching and learning tool for years to come.
The Society for Midwest Metalsmiths is pleased to offer advertising space on the 2008-2009 METAL Inclinations International Online Exhibition.
Ads will run continuously from October 31, 2008-October 31, 2009 and be viewed by jewelers, metalsmiths, collectors, gallery owners and other interested parties from all over the world.

Smaller monetary awards or gift certificates will also be accepted.
Award sponsors will have the award named for them. For example: “the ABC Company Grand Award.” The name of the award will be posted on the individual web page of the winning metalsmith, as a click able link to your company’s web site.
