Artist's Statement: Pregnant Chalice was originally intended to be a functional chalice and morphed into an Object D'art depicting inspiration into conception. I intended the egg (representing the womb of potential) to be very simple and unadorned, unlike its more famous predecessors. Raised from a single piece of pure silver, the metal was worked with only hammers. The unassuming egg rests on its exalted stand (representing the will and power of desire) of granulated gold, with serpentine spirals and glittering columns. 2002
