Artist's Statement: My approach to design relies on the interplay between the material and the process. As I texture, pattern and fold metal to create surface interest, I become aware of possibilities. Shapes - organic, architectural - emerge, often contrasting sharply with the softer finishes. This combination of shape and texture creates an unexpected tactile quality. My artistic satisfaction lies in capturing these often contradictory relationships combined with my love of hand-making and the manipulation of materials. Of great significance is the collaboration between maker and wearer; I don't consider my work finished until it finds its home with the wearer.
